"We will miss your laugh and that look that sees right through any rubbish"

“There is no government or police who can put a seal on my lips. I have to speak for people who don’t have a voice.” – Ras Judah Adunbi Directed by Bashart Malik, I Am Judah weaves together the hard-hitting truths of institutional racism with an intimate portrait of a well-loved Bristol community member, Ras Judah Adunbi. After enduring years of police harassment and repeated misidentification – with any racist motivation constantly denied – the film captures the perseverance of Judah in his refusal to be silent. He shares his story as a courageous tribute to those who feel unheard in times of suffering. Directed by Bashart Malik and produced by Zaheer Mamon, featuring Ras Judah Adunbi and poet Lawrence Hoo, the project began in September 2018. The full length I Am Judah film will be available to screen online on Wednesday 16th October through Kush Cinema. https://kushcinema.com/ Subscribe: https://bit.ly/hucksubscribe | 🔔Make sure to enable all push notifications!🔔 For daily stories in words and photos: http://Huckmag.com Follow Huck: Twitter: https://twitter.com/HUCKmagazine Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/HUCKmagazine Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/huckmagazine/ Subscribe to Huck Magazine: https://huck.imbmsubscriptions.com

Host: Gwenton Sloley Tkts: £6 Buy from www.myscreenhub.com I Am Judah In 2017, police mistook Ras Judah a well-known community figure in Bristol for a crime suspect (and not for the first time) and as a result he was brutally tasered in the face whilst out walking his dog changing his life forever. Prior to that Judah had endured years of police harassment with constant misidentification of being another supposedly wanted criminal who looked like him; all with denials of racism. In this last event the officer who discharged the taser, was found not guilty at her criminal trial and in September 2018 was also cleared of misconduct. This is Ras Judah's jaw-dropping story that will shake you to the core. Featuring: Ras Judah Adunbi, Cleo Lake, Lawrence Hoo, Dr Clare Torrible, Peter Courtier, Duane McGuire.
