I worry that the focus on NOAA's weather predicting value is ignoring the millions of other ways NOAA researchers enrich communities and local economies.

Lots of reasons. One of them is that H3N2 IFR (infection fatality rate) is 0.03-0.1%, while pre-vaccine COVID IFR was 0.7-0.9%.
That difference is enormous when paired with contagiousness.

The Trump admin is ALSO changing the rules so that rather than 30 days to file a Notice of Appeal, people will now only have 10 days (in most cases).
That's just 10 days to find $1,000 and appellate counsel for an appeal the government says it will likely automatically deny!
