IHRDC previously reported that although Branch 39 of the Supreme Court had granted Sepahi a retrial, Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court rejected his request without examining the merits of the case and sent it for enforcement of the death sentence.

Sepahi was detained during the January 2026 protests in Isfahan and is a defendant in the case known as “Alikhani Square.” According to information previously received by the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center (IHRDC), he and other defendants were tortured to extract confessions.
