When we increase the R&D budget for everything else to make up for Republican vandalism, don’t forget to increase the budgets of the NEA, CPB, NEH and IMLS to at least 1B/yr.
Call me crazy but I wish our society treated artists better. Give them grants! Let them do their weird projects! They're literally what makes life worth living.

NHMU is embarking on a 3-year project to fully prepare, conserve, curate, and digitize our collections from the Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry, including Utah’s State Fossil, Allosaurus fragilis, thanks to generous support from IMLS Museums for America and museum donors.

God this feels like an IMLS grant waiting for the right group of MLS/ILS workers.
Somewhat along these lines, I have been wondering if we should have a public search engine housed under/administered by the Library of Congress?

Open source, in a way that allows us to see how results are sorted/prioritized?

In addition to recommitted, bigger funding of public media

One of the most interesting grant initiatives I get to work on at the @statelibohio.bsky.social is the Conservation and Preservation Grant. This year we awarded 10 institutions funds to conserve/preserve some really interesting items held by Ohio libraries! library.ohio.gov/home/news-an...

The Shakers here left a wealth of evidence, much of it not cataloged. (We've an IMLS grant to do just that.) Some of it is found in handwriting: from covenants to paper scraps to interior walls. ("Please shut the door" is one of my favorite finds.) Aligning daily journals has revealed much.

I would have loved to see NEH pumping millions of dollars into state humanities councils, who were active in nearly every state-level 250 commission across the country or IMLS investing hundreds of millions in unrestricted operating support for museums to shore up our museum infrastructure.
