#IMPERATIVE
I was taught that doing the right thing, being honorable especially when no was watching was what mattered most as a testament to a person’s character. I still believe this to be true as I think you do as well. It’s just that owning the moral imperative has become somewhat smaller. It still exists!

Maybe they should take away the rusting hulks that are leaking radioactive waste into the Clyde. WM are spending £15 BILLION on upgrading Faslane but didn’t spend a fraction of that to save Grangemouth, shows their priorities for Scotland. Why Indy is imperative 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇵🇸

It is current day and I work at Corporation. I diligently get my agent to write presentations, emails and weekly notes. The people on the receiving end get their agent to transcribe and turn them into bullets which are never read. It is imperative that I come to an office to do this.

Commendations to the United Nations for taking a firm stand in addressing accountability. It is imperative to impose fines or imprisonment on those responsible for the actions in question. This issue should be prioritized as a leading news story ahead of the upcoming November elections. 👏👏

Are you seriously joking?

Donald Trump is now interjecting his opinions regarding the rape case at Cornell University, attempting to politicize the matter.

It is imperative to allow Jane Doe the privacy and respect she deserves in this situation.

Modernisation isn’t just a technology upgrade—it’s a business imperative. Companies that delay change risk inefficiency, customer churn, talent loss and weaker decision-making.

Small, consistent improvements can create long-term growth. 📈 #Growth

it's imperative to treat AI as an interpreter, not an oracle

more to say later, but AI as a technology not only *can* but *must* be subordinated to our ends

Dr. Mignot is a remarkably compassionate, dedicated scientist whose insights created one of the most moving of all my science journalism pieces- my brief time with him changed my understanding of sleep and its biological imperative. Honors are well-deserved! @laskerfdn.bsky.social
“Like many of you, I have always been fascinated by science. My reason is simple. It works,” Emmanuel Mignot says during his #Lasker2026 acceptance speech. Hear more about his path that took him “from pharmacology to genetics, even to zebrafish, and lately to immunology.” 🧪

Unacceptable for me. Neither Schumer nor Jeffries has said one word about removing this immoral criminal administration. One million of us may need to visit DC in January 2027.

War Crimes and more have been committed by the US government. Justice is imperative.

these armed citizens didn't fail, they eventually gained their union concessions, but also the fact that the police were on a certain side, what side do you think they're going to be on in response to a similar strike today? not the union. these articles show that it's an imperative to be armed.

Quoting to necro: some of the ambiguity is down it etiquette, in that an utterance might be syntactically/semantically desiderative but clearly intended as imperative
There's some ambiguity in English because the moods are less encoded, but lemme construct really obvious examples:

Exhortative: Let's all post more cat pics!
Volative: May your timeline be full of cat pics!
Desiderative: I wish that people would post more cat pics.

They are barbarians
Barbarians behave as barbarians
Be aware. These are all rehearsals
And cruelty is the point
Honestly, brace yourself for their depravity and to be disgusted by their actions
But, don’t be shocked
Deep disgust, particularly in mass, drives an imperative for change
Shock? Frozen

The video has profanity and is heartbreaking to watch, but it shows the fear/pain of what happened.
This is evil. This is wrong. And it has to stop.

The leaders, including the heads of OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta, SpaceXAI and Google, gathered at the White House to discuss the future of the technology, including cybersecurity, and made commitments to implement “robust internal controls” to monitor capabilities and align models to ensure they “do not hack or access technical systems in unintended ways”. The accord, which laid out four voluntary steps for companies to take, has been met by scepticism in some quarters, with experts flagging the danger of putting "so much...
