I've been cooking up a Very Large PDS (vlpds) implementation capable of scaling up to billions of accounts and down to just one.
It uses Object Storage as its only state, supports HA operation, live scaling up and down, is feature-complete with the reference PDS, and is FOSS.

TIL Rust's #[derive(Debug)] emits #[inline] on the generated fmt impl. Usually fine, but nested error types can stack up: a shrink of ~160KB in uv's binary just by making one Debug impl inline(never). Derives are not free, they just hide the cost.

some of it is definitely down to some jank http1 impl, but yeah that was with keepalive, I just think the keepalive was hardly working properly

hear me out, godot has it's own language. can render windows, and full, native, 2d rendering and separate, native, 3d rendering. it includes tools for audio, networking (websockets, full udp/tcp server client impl, full http useragent), it can *load gdextensions at runtime* it is an OS.

It's insane but now you can just buy access to a frontier model for ~48hrs and have it blast out an optimized impl of another model. Jax/CUDA/whatev. Don't like vLLM/llama.cpp? Claude printed me a Jev-compatible server for Clef in 100% cuTile-python last night. now I can just use it locally forever
