I forgot to mention: Push and hold the Right Stick to access the IPD setup in the Virtual Boy app, it works at any time.
While playing a game, you can also scale the image by accessing the IPD setup and then pressing X.
(The app will have many places to remind of that.)

Absolutely not worth doing this unless you need to repair something but if you do for whatever reason the trickiest part is the IPD wheel which has to line up exactly with the frame.
