I don’t even think it’s a hunt for a 2019 Switch so much as a My Personal Selective Memory of 2019 Switch before COVID, the collapse of the IRAf, the invasion of Ukraine, and the Gaza War brought home that there is in fact still a real world out there

A warning to all astronomy ECR instrument builders everywhere - I downloaded IRAF for Mac, installed it and found that an IRAF package for displaying hexagonal IFUs I had written 25 YEARS AGO FOR MY PHD THESIS was still there! Good grief... this may well outlast me.... 🔭🪐 #astroinstrumentation

The 64-bit community version of IRAF has been an excellent way of moving into the future but issues with xgterm on my MacBook have been driving me crazy (mainly "delete" not working).Today I tore it all out and installed the new V18 IRAF from NOIRLab. xgterm works as it should! IRAF is ALIVE & well!
