Ronnie would never get elected today. He’s “too liberal”

Don’t believe me?

Look up “Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) of 1986.”

Since 1986, as part of Reagan's immigration bill, every person who wants to work in the United States now has to produce proof of their eligibility (the I-9 process).

Under no circumstances is that limited to U.S. citizens, of course. And IRCA had an 18-month phase-in period.

IRCA (Immigration Reform & Control Act) of 1986, REQUIRES employers attest employees legal right to work in US AND made it a FELON FOR EMPLOYERS to knowingly hire/recruit undocumented immigrants. Maga Republican conservatives FAIL to jail THOSE law-breaker employers.

No. To clear things up, in 1986, as part of IRCA, the Reagan-era amnesty bill, Congress made it unlawful to *hire* someone who not legally authorized to work, creating the I-9 process we all know today.

Congress has never imposed any direct consequences on *working* without authorization.
But if you continue working, even for a day or a week, while waiting for the renewal… THAT would make you deportable. Right?

Should this be read as yet-another way to convert a disfavored group of legal immigrants (who have "followed all the rules" imposed on them) into illegal immigrants?

Nope! Ironically, IRCA in 1986, which created the modern I-9 process and which first barred the employment of people without legal authorization, does not bar anyone from running a business. And it's not unlawful to contract with a company run by an undocumented immigrant who does the job.
If he owned a business, doesn't that mean he was here legally?

The Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) of 1986 makes it ILLEGAL for employers to knowingly hire, recruit or refer illegal immigrants for employment.

Maga republican conservative employers have and are knowingly hiring, recruiting or referring illegal immigrants for employment.

The Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) of 1986 made it unlawful to employ unauthorized workers. If the law is the law, why aren’t employers getting locked up.

Employing undocumented labor is a violation of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA).

If Kid Rock does something illegal doesn’t that make him a criminal by MAGA reasoning…
… since they insist that being an undocumented immigrant (illegal alien) makes you a criminal?

I can't wait until he finds out President Ronald Reagan signed the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) into law in 1986, which included provisions for amnesty for undocumented immigrants!
October 25, 2025 at 10:46 PM
ronald fucking reagan was able to pass the IRCA in 1986 that ultimately legalized 2.7 million undocumented persons as permanent residents! aim for something better than ronald fucking reagan!

It's okay to acknowledge that Trump, Miller, et al are escalating white nationalist rhetoric/actions in a way that would have repulsed a lot of Republicans during Reagan.

Reagan, for example, was a supporter of the IRCA, which offered pathways to citizenship for migrant workers.
