The best part is, this post that's all about technical purity has a weird technical inaccuracy in it. She mentions "IRQ levels" a couple of times when she means just "IRQs"; IRQ _level_ is the name of a concept in the Windows NT kernels, it doesn't appear at all in the DOS systems being fetishized.

I don't think children should have phones. They should have huge beige desktop computer with "Windows 9x Operating System", "Dedicated 3D accelerator", and "SoundBlaster compatible sound card"

I’ll say again, In IRQ & AFG, our own troops would render aid to & assist in medevac of enemies who had just tried to kill them in a firefight.
They treated them better than ICE treats fellow citizens.

Mention "IRQ settings" to a gamer of a certain age & watch their eyes go glassy & their breathing start to quicken.
oh, and if you're a PC gamer, your game now runs fine 95 percent of the time. this was not the case in the 1990s.

I figured out why I was getting audio stuttering at 256 buffer size... irqbalance was putting both the amdgpu and xHCI (audio interface) IRQs on CPU#0!!!! amdgpu seems to be a hog...
After messing around with the SMP affinities, it's pretty solid. And the CPU usage bars look nice ^^
