Hey!
Did you know it's the best day of the year? International Vulture Day is here!!
It's a day to celebrate, share & support vultures, the most endangered (and misunderstood) family of birds in the world.
Take a moment to share a vulture with someone just how cool and important they are!

Share a vulture? Don’t mind if I do…

For International Vulture Day, here's a lovely turkey vulture who was waiting on the gate post to my pasture last spring. This was a thrilling sighting of a handsome bird. She stayed there a while!

It’s International Vulture Awareness Day! Here’s a Black vulture that was chilling at the Taco Bell drive-thru. Black vultures feed on everything from dead animals to coconuts (and even in Dumpsters), helping to reduce waste and illness spread. #IVAD2025 🪶

#Vultures provide US$1.8 billion in ecosystem services annually in Southern #Africa alone, yet they face critical threats. #BirdLife Partnership is taking action across the continent to ensure a future for these vital species.

It’s #InternationalVultureAwarenessDay, so let’s make a fuss of these phenomenal birds! I took these at the Horstmann Trust last year, and will tell their stories in my (nearly finished!) new book... They deserve so much more recognition for all they do, and up close are utterly charming 😍 #IVAD2025
