This is cool news! IVPN — a provider we’ve recommended for a long time now — has acquired Safing, a private network technology company that has been a part of our own community for many years now. Very excited for them both! discuss.privacyguides.net/t/safing-acq...

mullvad funds right wing parties, ivpn may be a better comparable choice if looking for a vpn

Mullvad or IVPN are two solid options.

“IVPN - they're based in the US but actually donate not to fascists but rather the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Open Rights Group.” - @mediaactivist.com

since @mullvad.bsky.social donates to fash, IVPN will be my only choice
I'm honoured, thank you, and I will try to justify your trust. It's a constant struggle and the landscape is always changing but in this game of cat-and-mouse I'm happy to be a mouse dodging the evil Big Tech cats as much as I can.

Well, after a year using Mullvad, today marks the day I have to switch over to another VPN (due to its founder donating to a Swedish far right political party).

I've been looking into IVPN, can anyone else recommend it?

inb4 it turns out ivpn powers their servers on melted babies or something

God FUCK not mullvad 😩

Switching back to IVPN I guess 🙄

Can we just have one, ONE company / product that isn’t run by a total piece of shit?!
“IT company Mullvad founder Daniel Berntsson is behind a huge donation to the populist Örebro Party, which advocates ‘comprehensive remigration’ from Sweden. ‘It’s sad that it’s needed’ he tells Flamman.”

Use a VPN (not US) providers w/ strong privacy policies (Mullvad, ProtonVPN, IVPN)

Self-host VPN's use Algo VPN or Outline on your own VPS (not US)

Use Tor & I2P these networks anonymize traffic and bypass surveillance

Disable WebRTC & Fingerprinting, use uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger or Brave

VPNs are useful for mitigating against mandatory data retention, ISP surveillance and obfuscating your location. Obviously the trick is to use a trustworthy and reputable VPN and preferably one that is now owned by monolithic billionaire conglomerates. I'd use windscribe, mullvad or IVPN
