After so much steady rain in my area, the park I go to shows water where there used to be grass, which really brought out the Ibises.

Australian white ibises are often (unkindly, I think) called bin chickens.
They are quite magnificent in flight and prehistoric looking close-up.
And, before someone says it, these are related to but different from the African sacred ibis.

I know I don’t really post my fine arts here, but I’m quite proud of this one. Also I got into my first public exhibition & art competition with it!

@atlanticbirding.bsky.social #BirdOfTheDay theme is #BestOfOctober

I've been watching these 2 black-faced ibises raise their fat babies through October. They use the sod roof on the floor below me as a playpen every morning while they hunt elsewhere for bugs.

Young northern bald ibises learn migration routes from experienced birds. For a new captive-bred population, humans fill that role, raising chicks and guiding them towards Spain with an ultralight aircraft.

A real-life echo of Fly Away Home.

I live in a street full of ibises and I have never seen them peck at the bins when they’re out. Odd.

A colony of ibis (ibises?) has occupied the tree next to my bedroom, and they constantly pick fights (BEFORE DAWN) with the two crows who already lived there... And I cannot do anything because I'm kinda scared of ibis

Bin chickens are ibises, which the ancient Egyptians saw as the earthly manifestation of Thoth, the god of wisdom, writing and magic.

A perfect description of you, and I'm sure your wife meant it that way, as a compliment... 😬
