125 years ago today, the second Ibrox was opened. Rangers beat Hearts 3-1 in an Inter-City League match.
Celtic's first visit to this Ibrox in the same season (1899-1900).
This created various Ibrox records, including first trophy and penalty.

Since those first Ibrox visits, Celtic have played there numerous times, including winning other trophies. The most recent was the 1997 League Cup.
The Bhoys have faced numerous opponents at Ibrox – including both versions of Rangers!

In September 1899, Celtic went to the original Ibrox for the last time. It ended 3-3 in a League game.
However, later that season, Celtic were drawn to play Rangers in the Scottish Cup.
That match would instead happen at the new Ibrox.

The Scottish Cup Final – 14 April 1900 – was an exciting match.
Celtic beat Queen's Park 4-3, with goals from Bell, Divers (2) and McMahon.
This was the first final at the new Ibrox – making Celtic the first team to win a trophy there!

Despite saves from Dan McArthur in Celtic’s goal, John McPherson smashed home the ball, making it 2-2.
The Celts’ first Ibrox trip ended in a draw.

Celtic’s first victory v Rangers at the second Ibrox was on 31 March 1900.
The Bhoys won 2-1 in an Inter-City League tie. Once again, Celtic got a penalty!
This made Celtic the second team to beat Rangers in an Ibrox competitive game.

Queen's Park were the first team to beat Rangers in competitive matches at both Ibrox 1 and 2.
But as the Hampden men were an amateur club, this makes Celtic the first professional team to beat Rangers at Ibrox 2 in a competitive game.

The first half saw numerous chances – Rangers had the better of the game – but by half-time, it was still 0-0.
Once the second half began, it was the home crowd that cheered as Alex Smith knocked in the ball to give them the advantage.
