It looks like the reports of #Fiji/#ImageJ death were considerably exaggerated.
I am surprised (or not) to see MetaMorph still going strong.

🔬📈 We analysed #microscopy papers to track #bioimage analysis use. ImageJ+Fiji dominate, but others are gaining ground. Researchers undercite them and provide too little detail to reproduce analyses. By Tayla and Bruno, with @guijacquemet.bsky.social lab

How deep learning tools integrate with ImageJ workflows varies depending on available packages, and methods sections often lack clarity about this integration (5/5)

dE SARS2 had tiny plaques and lacked Spike trimers compared to WT virus. dE SARS2 could only replicate by cell-to-cell transmission and not by cell-free transmission. It wasn’t better at cell fusion compared to WT virus, but that was the only way it could infect other cells.

The $150-300 DIY vs $4,990 Dropometer comparison misses cost per sample. In our internal test, DIY ImageJ averaged 3.4 min/sample vs the Dropometer's 1.1 min - roughly 3x faster. At routine QC volumes, that time difference erases the upfront savings quickly.
