Throwback Video

It’s been 20 years since the best mo cap movie made from ImageMovers. Also the first major credit from Dan Harmon. I actually like this one probably cause a haunted house that is a monster is a pretty cool idea.

Beowulf (2007) - Robert Zemeckis, Neil Gaiman, Roger Avary, Shangri-La Entertainment, ImageMovers

Frustrated with it as a story based on Beowulf (I hate you Gaiman), but otherwise found it just fine enough ? Why did we try Freudian on Beowulf ?

Imagine if there was a mocap version of the Mary Shelley novel Frankenstein directed and produced by Robert Zemeckis from his company ImageMovers.

How do you think it would turn out? Would it be PG-13 like Beowulf, or even R?

Too bad it can't happen now because of the failure of Mars Needs Moms.

Much like what happened to ImageMovers Digital in 2011, right?

Robert Zemeckis's motion-capture animation company ImageMovers Digital collapsed after the commercial failure of Mars Needs Moms, ending the filmmaker's push to establish mo-cap as cinema's future.

I think this reddit article goes into detail about how (at least according to one person) the direction the film SHOULD have gone when compared to the original book.

Ouside of the bests of pre-Sony Animation. There's also Nelvana's Care Bears II: A New Generation, the video game movie Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, the hand drawn Adam Sandler comedy Eight Crazy Nights, ImageMovers' Monster House and the first animated Columbia movie 1001 Arabian Nights

Even better if you follow the French canon.

The French Disney canon includes the mainline Walt Disney Animation Studios films, the Pixar films, most of the DisneyToon films, some of the live action hybrids, and The Wild.

No stop-motion or ImageMovers Digital films, however.

If people can refuse to watch imagemovers early mocap movies, and say that they’re terrible because they look bad, and not be judged for it, than i should be allowed to think that that Nickelodeon ironman show was fugly as all hell, and not have people at my throat saying “but its peak”

Oscar-winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis has signed with CAA, and has moved his production company ImageMovers to the agency as well.

Imagine if Robert Zemeckis' company ImageMovers made a mocap-animated adaptation of the book Frankenstein.

Obviously, it can't happen now because mocap-animated movies are dead thanks to Mars Needs Moms. But imagine if it DID happen. What would it be like?

Would it get a PG-13 or even an R rating?

Exactly like the deal Disney made with ImageMovers back in 2007 to create ImageMovers Digital to make more fully mo-cap animated films which as we all know did not end well for the mouse house in 2011. History repeating itself basically.

Yeah, plus, this is pretty much Disney making the same mistake they made back in 2007 which did not end well in 2011, being their deal with ImageMovers to create ImageMovers Digital to make more fully mo-cap animated films. It's history repeating itself basically.

Deathly curious to read your thoughts on the recently released Christmas Karma

Genuinely one of my favorite movies of all time. I’d really love to see it on a theater screen one day.

Fun fact, there was a cancelled mocap remake of this movie that would’ve been directed by Robert Zemeckis under ImageMovers before they went under. Honestly curious what it would’ve looked like.

Oh wait…Pooh made more money than the crappy motion capture film that shut down ImageMovers Digital.
