Something I’ve been thinking about a lot today. I thank people for including #ImageDescriptions or #AltText in their posts, even if it’s only a few words. I’m glad not only because a piece of media is accessible to me, but because I like people to know that it matters.

Another good reason to write #imagedescriptions :
You will look more closely at the image and be less likely to be tricked by an AI generated image. This is also the case for finding the attribution for images where possible.

Question: I can't do image descriptions with my disabilities. I value accessibility and I've really *really* tried. 😭 If I have to do alt text to use Bluesky, I just can't use Bluesky.
What do other disabled people in this situation do?

I'm sorry my recent images don't have #imagedescriptions. Every time I add one, the whole post #errormessages and won't post. It's been this way for weeks. @bsky.app is this a known issue?

mind wandering. I enjoy writing #imagedescriptions when capacity allows. but I enjoy writing. a lot of people don’t. but that doesn’t change the fact that generic image descriptions are often as useful as not having one at all, to the people who would benefit (which honestly I think is everyone)
