#Imaginos
the claude/desdinova arc lifted a lot from the imaginos mythos, the clock puzzle in chapter 57 was a direct reference to astronomy
September 28, 2026 at 12:39 PM
astronomy imprinted on me so hard when i first heard it like 15 years ago i wrote an entire arc of eal that was drawn from its lyrics. the entire imaginos mythos became super formative later

i also really like harvest moon and the live performances of then came the last days of may!

Blasting "I Am the One You Warned Me Of" by Blue Öyster Cult

Yes Dracula is an Imaginos fan
Member when Dracula picked up Jonathan Harker at Borgo Pass in his van? That was fuckin' scary.

If Imaginos was put out as intended, people would realize that BÖC is one of the best american rock bands.

I have endless fascination and love for Imaginos by Blue Oyster Cult. A misbegotten, oddly-assembled thing, the product of backdealing and record label bullshit, an artifact of hubris and unfulfilled ambition with some very catchy tunes. (Also the album that incidentally gave Joe Satriani a career.)
To shift gears for a moment:

What's a band or artist that is critically reviled or easy to dunk on that you passionately, unironically love?

For me it's the Presidents of the United States of America and Marcy Playground. I'm happy to discuss those two for hours 😂

3. Blue Öyster Cult - One jangly classic rock smash and then hours of dystopian prog-metal based on a sci-fi poetry cycle called “The Soft Doctrines of Imaginos”
4. Extreme - the acoustic power ballad to end all acoustic power ballads in amongst a career of funk-glam-macho-metal showboating.

I feel like the later books in this series don't even begin to make sense unless you are alternating Imaginos and Chronicle of the Black Sword tracks while reading.

Imaginos IV: Rhyme of the Star Clock is coming out in September, based on “lost” Sandy Pearlman lyrics found and given to Albert by Sandy’s estate. The songs will supposedly fit in throughout the saga.

Imaginos: Episode 6: The Wings of Slaughter: ME 262
History says the Allies won in 1945. Episode 6 of the Imaginos saga breaks open BÖC's "ME 262" to expose the Paperclip Inversion: how fascism colonized its conquerors to build a permanent wired global cage.
Imaginos Episode 6: The Wings of Slaughter and the Messerschmitt Me 262
The skies turn to fire. Unpacking the occult blueprint of the Messerschmitt Me 262, Desdinova's Manhattan Project pivot, and the genesis of psychic trauma.

I wonder if J.K. Rowling knows how queer-coded Imaginos is, or if she stopped listening to BOC after "Burnin' for You"

the very earliest form of what is now a romance novel (and inspired at least as much by Voivod and Cirith Ungol as BÖC) was a pitch for a fiction about Blue Öyster Cult's "Imaginos" à la John Darnielle's "Master of Reality"

When I bought the BÖC Columbia boxed set, I gave away all my individual CDs save for IMAGINOS, which I held onto for the liner notes.

For the longest time it would have been “Pony Express Record” by Shudder to Think. Now it might be Blue Oyster Cult’s “Imaginos” because the story behind that album is absurd comedy.
You have a month to write a 33 1/3 book about the album of your choice.

Which record are you going to write about?

(No previously covered albums allowed; new shit must come to light: see below.)
