Masks are an accessibility aide for students with disabilities or immunodeficiencies. If you banned wheelchairs, you’d be effectively banning wheelchair users. If you ban masks, you are essentially banning students who are high-risk for covid.
Columbia is giving into President Trump’s demands in a battle over federal funding. School to ban masks, empower police and rein in controversial academic department

It’s used to make IVIg, critical for immunodeficiencies and certain autoimmune diseases. The reason the world buys so much from America is other countries don’t allow payments for collection. Unlike whole blood transfusions, IVIg requires so much blood to make that you cannot supply it…

"Primary immunodeficiencies" covers a LOT.

some immunodeficiencies are supratentorial
The share of Republican adults who say it's "extremely important to get their children vaccinated" has declined by more than 50 percent in five years.

More evidence that immunodeficiencies underlie autoimmunity risk: bsky.app/profile/viro...
1/ A long standing paradox in my mind (from always seeing immune "strength" or reactivity drawn as a spectrum from immunodeficiency to autoimmunity) was resolved this year at #AAI #Immunology2025. WHY do SO many people have both simultaneously? Each infection brings risk of developing autoimmunity!!

2. People who were immunocompromised as a result of primary immunodeficiencies didn't live long in 1918, because antibiotic therapy didn't exist. Likewise, medication that causes immunosuppression didn't exist either.

To be clear I am not talking about people with actual immunodeficiencies for whom it makes medical sense to wear a mask; I know people like that, too.

📣 We're going to be at #ESID2026!

We're excited to hear the latest advances across primary immunodeficiencies, secondary immunodeficiencies or inborn errors of immunity research.

If you're looking for a home for your research or would like to set up a meeting, get in touch!

Yeah, you should have to, like, win an appeal to do it. Your kid better have horrible immunodeficiencies and you better live somewhere with pathetic vaccination rates. Basically any other application of it is nonsense.

Hola, caring for kids and adults with immunodeficiencies co-signs. Please remember when you get your flu shot your are absolutely helping yourself out and, as a bonus, all those immunocompromised people including those getting treatment for cancer and autoimmune diseases

i just found out kesha has the same disease as me.

if you were ever curious, this explains it. though CVID is a broad diagnosis made up of many different rare immunodeficiencies.

For the first time, SELF’s June cover star shares details about her immune system disorder.

So would lupus, rheumatoid arthritis etc count as primary immunodeficiencies?
August 27, 2025 at 10:50 PM
It's a good thing the US hasn't spent four-ish years giving everyone immunodeficiencies from COVID and sending them back to work. That'd really suck now if that had happened.
“an influenza A virus had been detected at higher-than-average levels in… Alaska, California, Florida, Illinois and Kansas.

“We’d really like to understand what might be driving that influenza A increase during what we consider the lower transmission season for influenza A”

What indeed? 🤔 #H5N1

Re: Covid vax ban, they have backed down before in the face of pushback on medical issues. This requires outcry from the public and electeds. Use @5calls.org and @resist.bot to contact your reps. Here is a script. I'm focusing on "most vulnerable" as those move the narrative the easiest.

- it has been estimated that about 6% of the US is currently immunocompromised (that can be because of acquired conditions, primary immunodeficiencies, or the use of certain medications). That means that there is essentially no wiggle room for people to refuse vaccination for non-medical reasons...

Given all the accumulating immunodeficiencies in the general population due to Covid, is there any hope of lowering the recommended age for this vaccine? Would love to get it sooner.
