This is the Inchavore River about an hour's walk in from the road. Until you get here it's quite a boring path but you end up on this beautiful river walk, leading down to the wonderful Lough Dan glacier lake.

Hiking around Inchavore Valley and through an old abandoned village. Couldn't make it to Lough Dan it was so boggy in the open fields.

This was a very pleasant walk along the Inchavore river leading to this large mountain lake (Lough Dan in Co. Wicklow). It's large enough to have a sandy shore and a little wetland area where dragonflies will start to show up when it gets a bit warmer.

We crossed the Inchavore once from the Luggala side, maybe 20 years ago, with two small boys, then headed towards Roundwood. On recent walks, I can't see where or how we managed that. Must be getting old!

When I was there the other day I saw this spot by the Inchavore that looked like a crossing point? I even made this video of it. There's some strategically placed rocks including one in the centre. It looked a lot like a crossing point to me, but I didn't do it this time. Could that be the place?

Nice shot there. That's become one of my favourite hikes. You can get there from several starting points but walking down along the Inchavore River is quite pleasant.
