One of the early medieval stones at Inchinnan Parish Church, near Renfrew in West Scotland. Dating to sometime between the 9th and 11th centuries, the stone is a product of the Kingdom of Strathclyde. 📸 My own. #StoneworkSunday #Inchinnan

Back in February 2009, this was discovered in the River White Cart close to the site of Inchinnan Old Kirk (St. Convals). Inchinnan 4 as it is known, is now in the Paisley Museum collection, separated from the other 3 Inchinnan Govan School Stones at Inchinnan Parish Church.

In 2020, Rolls Royce closed the aeroengine maintenance, overhaul and repair plant at Inchinnan near Glasgow. 700 workers lost their jobs during the COVID-19 lockdown. I was part of a team who interviewed the workers and we've now published their story in the Modern British History journal.

While four airships were built, the Admiralty cancelled its contract in 1919, and the station closed in 1922. The India Tyre Company purchased the site in 1927 and re-purposed it to make tyres, including the construction of this office building.
