For February fun, A-Cover-A-Day (well almost) of books I love, that's (almost) all. #MammothsAtTheGate #SingingHillsCycle #MightVersusWisdom #TalkingHoopoe #BirdSky #Fantasy #ShortPerfectNovels #BookSky #IncidentallyQueer I woulda posted all 5 covers- love them all- the 6th is coming in October. 📚💙
The cover of fantasy novella Mammoths at the Gates, by Nghi Vo, says "Hugo Award-Winning Series!" and "A remarkable accomplisment." --NPR on The Empress of Salt and Fortune." (Empress, by the way, is the first book of 5 so far, and the 6th comes out in October 2025.) Cover illustration shows two hoopoe birds perched on the tusks of two mammoths, peering in at the nest of a third hoopoe, which nest is in the mouth of a gargoyle shaped like maybe a dragon's face, atop gates, and at the foot of the gates are two mirrored still-life arrangements of a candle, a vase with two chysanthemums, and a steaming bowl of soup on a plate.
