Nasty work by the Times here. Law enforcement sources say they found "some evidence" that Ilhan Omar married her brother, but the paper doesn't say who they are or what the evidence is.

In Russia, independent journalists are punished for reporting the truth and for asking questions the Kremlin does not want answered. Independent reporters face imprisonment, intimidation or even death, while those responsible for attacks on press freedom enjoy impunity.

IME a lot of NYT readers vastly underestimate the credentials of most independent journalists.
counterpoint: while the nyt et al aren’t remotely above criticism, journalism is defined by a set of editorial processes, and a lot of people who at best blog their opinions and have never reported a school board meeting more or less advocate for the destruction of journalism qua journalism
I almost respect a rightwing partisan hack more than a supposed neutral journalist because their motives are made plain. A journalist will look you right in the eye and tell you that the rightwing outcomes they are obviously agitating for are neutral and, in fact, noble of them to pursue...

we're all staring at D+R turnout numbers but the reason this is mostly fuckass guessing is we don't know how the independent voters are breaking and we won't until we start getting actual results
