Industrialization drives convergent microbiome and host physiological shifts in the human metaorganism
Integration of microbiome omics and host data from globally diverse human populations shows that industrialization restructures gut microbial ecosystems and intestinal physiology. These shifts include...

Now online! Convergent genomic evolution of human gut bacteria along an industrialization gradient
Convergent genomic evolution of human gut bacteria along an industrialization gradient
Analysis of globally diverse gut bacterial isolate genomes shows that host environments across the industrialization gradient shape genome remodeling and convergent selection, while industrialization is linked to increased HGT-driven gene acquisition and expanded genome size.

Tolkien appeals to people who aren't Catholic luddite small-government monarchists bc Tolkien a., was making mythology, not propaganda, and b., Tolkien was in touch with themes and emotions most people can relate to, whatever their feelings about kings or industrialization.

Not the main point, but it's also, as a matter of history, wrong. The rise of gyms is quite a recent phenomenon. Has basically no relationship to the timeline of industrialization.

really it was the death of industrialization that made factories available, not really sure how that works with condos and light warehouse areas

Part of this is our failure to fully dismantle the planter class and enfranchise African Americans during Reconstruction, but you can't ignore the fact that the Jones Act killed what industrialization had started in the South in the 1920s.

the thing that has historically sucked under communism is the rapid development of industrialization part, which also sucked under capitalism

The industrialization of software production without the industrialization of software assurance is absolutely something that could still happen. Arguably IS happening, right now.
We could end up with millions of tiny, individually tailored systems, each developed competently enough to appear functional, but without the institutional infrastructure to discover, investigate, and remediate their failures.

"but AI is just industrialization of software" well nobody every praised IKEA furniture for their reusability and their sturdiness.

The mechanization of society like the industrialization of America through the coal and automobile industries need to be put behind us. Let's grow gardens, forests, lakes, ponds, cool the earth.
The Results Are In: Voters Hate Data Centers
From high-profile Senate races to local rezoning initiatives, data centers and their supporters did miserably on the ballot in the 2026 midterms.

my partner made this great point about capitalism & the birth rarw recently -- industrialization requires more labor to be spent on upkeeping machinery and less on actual do production, and the same is the case w/ childrearing in the modern day

I've seen some folks refer to the emergence of AI code generation as the industrialization of programming, but a lot of shops immediately blew right on past industrialization into fast fashion.

I mean, never his party. His party was a progressive change that was built upon industrialization and westward expansion. The current republicans are the southern Democrats and wealthy elite that fought to keep slavery.

i think the ccp, like the other reformed communist parties, has two great advantages over other authoritarianism in the form of a) having an institutionalized system outside of the formal state to determine its future and b) they’ve been playing on easy mode due to the magic of industrialization
November 1, 2026 at 2:02 PM
I mean, granted, the industrialization of software production doesn't necessarily come with the industrialization of software assurance. But going your own way has its own risk profile. Control isn't the same thing as competence, and competence isn't the same thing as capacity.

Has there ever been a larger divide between the people who make products and the people who they expect to use the products?
November 2, 2026 at 5:55 PM
Worst part is, before Unions and workers rights came in, factory hours used to be much longer than the 9-5, WW1, Industrialization and the market crash changed all that lmao 😭

"Chinese companies are flocking to Africa, building factories rather than exporting goods, as the continent’s growing population and industrialization drive create opportunities for manufacturers facing slowing demand and fierce competition at home."

In Depth: Chinese Manufacturers Flock to Africa as Trade Gives Way to Local Production
Chinese firms are eager to cash in on Africa’s vast potential, but fierce competition will make profits harder to achieve

this could be the basis for a ted chiang novella about a sci fi society stratified by language after the artisan proletariat refuses for their methods to be co-opted by industrialization (but it’d probably be a lot smarter than that)
November 3, 2026 at 6:09 AM
Since the birth of industrialization, rural areas have suffered, and urban areas have swelled.

But liberalism is inherently pro industry in a capitalist oriented way, so is incapable of thinking in ways that benefit rural workers. So are conservatives but they're quite comfortable wrapping in lies.
