#Inefficiency
Unpopular opinion, I work in a retail grocery store and I see a lot of inefficiency and waste with snap purchases but… Still not as wasteful and greedy and inefficient as what the billionaires hoard. Redistributing stolen wealth/wages would probably take care of all of it.

Consumer Collars have transfer efficiencies of >99.999% which corresponds to a mass loss of ~1% per 1000 transfers.

The zeolite degrades with mishandling, heavy use, charge depletion or excessive temperature adding 0.001% inefficiency/ year.

Devices are considered unsafe @ <99.995% Efficency

Belatedly, they can't admit to themselves that they're rich bc of luck and market inefficiency. They have to find some reason why it's logical/moral for them to have so much wealth.

So they settle on genetic superiority/destiny and go all in on eugenics.

CRAN: Package spscsfa
Provides semiparametric smooth-coefficient stochastic frontier analysis following Sun and Kumbhakar (2013) <doi:10.1016/j.econlet.2013.05.001> where the coefficients of the parametric part vary smoothly with a set of nonparametric variables. Inefficiency term is allowed to depend on a set of determinants through heteroskedasticity. Smooth coefficients are estimated using nonparametric regression and the remaining frontier parameters are estimated by maximum likelihood. Technical efficiency and inefficiency are computed using the Battese and Coelli (1988) <doi:10.1016/0304-4076(88)90053-X> and Jondrow et al. (1982) <doi:10.1016/0304-4076(82)90004-5> methods, respectively. Confidence intervals for technical efficiency are computed using the approach of Horrace and Schmidt (1996) <doi:10.1007/BF00157044>.

An application to discharge a transparency order is finally decided (in favour of discharge) MORE THAN TWO YEARS after the application was made. What went wrong? Delay, inefficiency and mistakes in the Court of Protection?

A bit of inefficiency is arguably better for the student experience because learning is messy and non-linear. We should see inefficiency as an investment in their growth and human potential

Oh yeah, with high gas prices, the top thing people want is worse gas mileage!

Close Call

A cliff with an infinite fall
Separated only by a whole number
Full on the hum of a stuffed freezer
Rattling whispers of inefficiency
Begging to be purged
Of course that is just fantasy of coffee stained ties
Everything and everyone lies
It is time to let go

Congratulations to SpaceX for a successful Starship orbital insertion. Only six years behind schedule and $10 billion over budget!

No wonder Musk's department of "efficiency" added $135 billion of inefficiency to the government.

So many small organizing groups are mired in inefficiency by virtue of trying to convince everyone of the perfect path before starting and just doing things will be massively more productive towards a material goal

I'm in China and there's always a funny contrast between the efficiency of the rail system and the inefficiency of the passenger loading.

This is just a queue for every single train at once. Whenever a train pulls into the station, it's mayhem as people push their way up to the front to enter.

Hi, I work for one of the agencies who are getting sorted out by prop 4. Please dont let it fail. We are literally banging our heads against the wall due to the inefficiency and contrary guidance that is the mess of permitting in NYC. I can't get shit done. Not everything is a conspiracy.

To work optimally, the models prefer certain "official" modes of language. Even if they can get the gist of other ways of speaking, you'll be penalized with inefficiency and increased errors.

You made this same point yourself

My AI agents handle maybe 80% of weekly ops. That last 20% takes 80% of my time. Not an inefficiency. That's the actual job. The hard decisions don't automate.

"But the inefficiency of jury trials is actually one of its virtues. The government has to earn that conviction, to invest resources, to prove each element beyond a reasonable doubt. That means the gobernment has to think about which cases are worth it (...)"

The inefficiency of newspaper classified ads propping up democracy is the greatest positive externality I can think of. Incredible societal benefit from deeply suboptimal little squares of text.
