Like, in many ways, what we have in the Atmosphere is a combination of ideas from ActivityPub and Solid, without all the complexity of JSON-LD which is probably the number one source of software bugs there.

Solid had the same problem too, the default scope granted in 2022/23 was "full access to all the data in your pod".
When I parted ways with Inrupt in early 2023 they'd been working on access grants (built with verifiable credentials and UMA) to try to restrict access to specific resources.

I tried to argue that we needed good developer experience back when I worked at Inrupt, but was largely ignored. There were other priorities like building applications for others.
