#InshoreLimit
The @snp.org Government's continued support for Maggie Thatcher's Tory abolition of the 3-mile limit in 1985. This measure opened up our inshore waters, destroying nursery habitat and ultimately resulting in an 88% reduction in inshore fishing boats. #Inshorelimit = Economic Recovery

Yep will do, if you commit to reversing #Thatcher,s abolishing of the 3 mile limit. @thesnpmedia.bsky.social #Inshorelimit
Very positive response for our candidate Emma Harper and for the SNP on the streets of Stranraer.

From Shetland to Stranraer, make it #BothVotesSNP on Thursday next week for a government that’s always on Scotland’s side.

We were there with a clear message: if we look after our seas, then abundance will return.

More Protection = More Fish = More Jobs.

Scotland needs a #inshorelimit & protecting at least 30% of inshore waters from bottom-trawling and scallop dredging is an evidence-based step towards recovery.

Pleased Sir David Attenborough has joined me to state that Scallop Dredging should be removed from inshore seas @mairigougeon.bsky.social
Have you watched OCEAN Attenborough's latest epic full-length film yet? It broke box office records for attendees in its 1st week #ReviveOurOcean #InshoreLimit

The new David Attenborough film #OCEAN is premiering today. Protecting our seas from bottom-trawling will allow sea-life rebound. It needs the political will to make it happen.

Imaginary RED lines are used by Gov ministers when they have lost the debate, with vast majority of voters wanting change. @mairigougeon.bsky.social @johnswinney.bsky.social use RED lines to deny the basic economic & ecological case of a fisheries #Inshorelimit in #Scotland
Could Keir Starmer, or even Rachel Reeves kindly explain what are the hallowed red lines that creating a customs arrangement with the EU would cross? They must surely be serious. Something on the lines of ”we’d have to use the same colour paper” would be a step forward.

We love our Kelp on the Isle of Arran, it thrives in dense underwater forests around our coast. Kelp ecosystems rank among the most productive on Earth, providing vital habitat for Arrans recovering marine life. #Oceanoptimism #Inshorelimit

We must have an #InshoreLimit on seabed-disrupting fishing methods such as trawling & dredging; and also better enforcement of pollution controls.

theconversation.com/nz-hopes-to-...
NZ hopes to store carbon in marine ecosystems – but some are so degraded they’re already a source of emissions
Seagrass meadows, mangroves and kelp forests are carbon sinks. Restoring or protecting them addresses both biodiversity loss and the climate crisis.

Very true, @johnswinney.bsky.social @mairigougeon.bsky.social continue to back #Thatchers removal of an #Inshorelimit back in 1984 to protect a sm minority of inshore trawlers. Its total economic madness.

Very similar to @johnswinney.bsky.social @mairigougeon.bsky.social ruling out an #Inshorelimit scrapped by Thatcher in 1984. Seems @thesnp.bsky.social policy is to support & fund Scallop Dredging. Short term Economic madness.
