State Farm Under Investigation

By California Department of Insurance for its handling of the California Wildfire claims.

They just got approved for 17% emergency rate hike last month. Does this sound legit?

That's 3 years in a row and 4 of the last 5 but it's okay because the potato brains in charge don't believe in climate change
The Saskatchewan government is projecting a deficit that’s more than double from budget, largely due to higher crop insurance payouts following a difficult farming season. www.thecanadianpressnews.ca/business/sas... #skpoli

I think what’s disturbing is that insurers can kill patients by denying their claims. 💔🏥💸 #InsuranceCrisis #HealthCareJustice

Three major insurers just asked regulators to let them exclude A.I.-related losses entirely. They say the risks are “unpriceable.” When the risk people want no part of you, that’s trouble. #AI #TechUpdate #AIBubble #InsuranceCrisis #TechPolicy #ArtificialIntelligence #JacobWard

Maybe insurance companies should be required to divest from fossil fuel companies?

Via their investments, they are making the insurability crisis worse by being propping up oil & gas companies driving climate change, leading to vast uninsured areas.

Home insurance in areas hit by repetitive disasters is going to be the number one housing affordability issue over the next 4 years. And possibly going into the midterms.

More so than interest rates. Florida in particular is going to have huge problems.
Here in Florida we have a housing crisis of our own - developers are building affordable homes all around, but many are sitting empty because people can't afford the necessary home insurance.

Some people are gonna be very wet and out of pocket very soon

- 80% of US households at risk of flood do not have adequate insurance cover
- Republicans and those who don’t believe they’re threatened by climate change more likely to be underinsured

Hamilton's article makes essentially the same point:

"create a government program to enable the resulting hordes of insurance refugees to successfully relocate without losing all of their net worth"

it's the only thing that makes sense, but it's open to attack from all political flanks.

Tyler Perry speaking up on insurance companies canceling policies? Now that’s the voice we need! If Madea were involved, she'd be storming into those offices like, “Hellur, we’re gonna fix this right now!” 🔥

James Woods lost his home in Pacific Palisades in the LA wildfire and says he has no homeowners insurance because a “major company” supposedly canceled his policy several months ago.

This is one of the neighborhoods that State Farm *already pulled out of* earlier this year, thanks in no small part to how climate change is exacerbating wildfire risk.

Mortgage lenders require home insurance. When the private sector won't write policies, the burden shifts to local govt & taxpayers to foot the bills. Govt insurance premiums are astronomical.
