Instead, I usually ask confirmation by paraphrasing their proposed action in a way intended to clarify intent. I do this often, whether the action is ill-advised or not.

Yes & she portrayed Catwoman as a dominatrix. In several episodes she carries a whip/flogger & strikes her henchmen to prod them to action - calling them "bad". That's easily missed watching it as a kid but watch it as an adult & it is hilarious. The Batman TV series was comical by intent.

It’s the conundrum of communicative intent, which SP pinpoints, that I think anti-SP can’t shake. No matter how powerful we make AI (functions, action surfaces), we can never directly imbue it with communicative intent.

Absolutely. While blatantly illegal and transparently disingenuous in intent, the CA lawsuit is at least somewhat internally consistent - the DOJ claims it wants to stop votes from non-citizens from being counted.

That’s why i try to ignore llms and focus on how other branches of ml, ai, mathematics can address elements of logic and reasoning. To me LLM as a language UI makes sense, and maybe as a proposer of action to another system by transducing words to communicate intent or action.
