If there seems to be an intractable problem in society that causes unnecessary suffering, and we are constantly told that the suffering cannot be stopped (or even alleviated), you can be assured that someone in a position of power or influence is profiting from allowing the suffering to continue.
Muscle memory has a comforting effect. Old habits die hard. You'll be worse at gyro before you get better.

I firmly believe that we are destined to flip flop between parties until one party consistently gets the answers right to some of our intractable problems. Trump is just following the same pattern - voters wanted to try something new because Biden didn't fix a lot of their day to day issues.

But how many cycles of destruction must these ppl endure, how much generational trauma and starvation, at the hands of this intractable conflict?

Yeah! I say as much in the piece! The reason people like valve is they push out regular, practical solutions to otherwise intractable problems like Linux devs instead of garish updates that are meant to piss people off. They could have had this be a PR win.
