Buwaro, Sakido, Iratu, Nikkei, and Tirol were all intentionally designed to show that there were more disabled people among the younger gens of Angels & Demons. It's related to both races' plummeting birth rate.

That's also why Dakos makes a rude comment about Iratu & his peers on page 771

It's hard to tell because of my old art, so it's easier to tell in the redux page in Book One (print & pdf), but: Sakido's wings are intentionally small on page 92 because the pendant is no longer working.

That's why Azurai calls Iratu "the world's tiniest earth Demon" when his pendant is off

I don't believe I ever stated that young Sakido had small wings due to an injury. The intention was that both Iratu and Sakido were born as runts, just like Buwaro. The pendants from Darius granted them strength they weren't born with; they're literally assistive devices.

While we're on it, the notion of "runt" was never clearly explained. If no Demon needs to nurse/eat, does that mean that some are just born smaller and weaker? I see how it can apply to Iratu, but Sakido's not really in that case. She's been disabled after an injury but she's within expected height.

Iratu was about 11-12 when he joined Hell yet he was also still called a little devil when he entered, so I am not sure the denizens actually knew how old they were, if they were both runts.

When Darius took Sakido in, she was a small child. They spent a year or two together, and she definitely wasn't 10 yet when she entered Hell. Assuming Sakido and Iratu were the only "native" speakers until Verammi was recruited, there's a non-zero chance that soldiers spoke as if to children. /crack

Sakido attempts to catch Iratu by surprise, but he uses his bladed tail to deflect her attack.
