Irreduction of "the Sciences"

Since the gods were destroyed, this faith has become the main obstacle that stands in the way of understanding the principle of irreduction. Its only function is passionately to deny that there *are* only trials of strength.

This means that the irreduction of "science" is both necessary and difficult—necessary because it has become the only obstacle which stands in the way of our escaping from magic ...

Whatever displaces the magical impression of potency and escorts it firmly back to the network where it took form I call an "irreduction."

If we choose the principle of irreduction, we discover intertwined networks which sometimes join together but may interweave with each other without touching for centuries. There is enough room. There is empty space. Lots of empty space.
