#booksof2023 #2 @IrvineWelsh’s new one - the characters may be cynical, jaded, even unpleasant, and the story can be hard to listen to, but as usual, the book STEAMS with life, in all its stinking, chaotic, technicolour, terrible beauty. Read ALL his books.

Oh please. I'm English & "stop them banging on about it" is just funny. All I can think of here is @IrvineWelsh's line:
"The mystery of Scottish sport
Is why we hate the English so.
I love the English very much
As long as they don't fuckin beat us
in the European nations cup."

Just watched the first episode of #IrvineWelsh’s #Crime. #Edinburgh’s never looked more real. Gritty, dark and disturbing, it’s everything a good TV cop drama should be. Great to see a crop of Scottish talent in top form too, eh? Even the East Coast accents are good.
