Feels like one of the weird unintended Ai consequences is gonna be that artists doing commissions have to submit proof of non-ai work. Which would be an enormous annoyance while not reallllly proving anything, since the steps too could be faked.

I love the r/IsThisAI subreddit because it’s either the world’s most obvious AI image or someone seeing a professional photograph with proper lighting and staging and going “this is AI because it looks too good” while all the comments call OP a fucking idiot

This illustration from today’s NYT, drawn by very-much-human cartoonist Tim McDonagh, was posted to r/IsThisAI. I see why, I suppose, but goddammit.
Current use of gen AI sucks not (just) because it copies human artists, but because it then calls those human artists — unfairly — into question.
