The Pyre's Wake was never supposed to have a face. No one in this story has ever safely identified him. Every account of him disagrees with the last one. The cover does what the city couldn't.

Someone in my replies wanted the name of the masked man in my WIP's key art. Ishren Kaal. That's the easy part. What Vehl's Reach thinks he is gets considerably messier.

The ARC readers getting The Infection Protocol aren't getting a polished little hero story. Rhea makes bad calls. Kael has things he won't tell you. Ishren Kaal isn't waiting around to explain himself. That's rather the point.

Between Rhea, Kael, and Ishren Kaal: which one would you least want alone in a room with you? Not the obvious answer. Think about it for a second.

ARC signups for The Infection Protocol have been open for a week. This week you finally met some of the people you're signing up to read about. If Rhea, Ishren Kaal, or Kael pulled you in, there are still spots open.

Everyone who's gotten close enough to Ishren Kaal tells a different story. They agree on exactly one thing. Run.

Every person in this story has heard stories about the same man. Almost none of the stories agree. Wednesday you meet Ishren Kaal.
