We had Ismaili family friends growing up—they spoke Gujarati like us, but when someone asked where they were from? Their answer was, “from Uganda.”

The Ismaili community has hosted this Canada Day citizenship court for 37 years; a lovely Ismaili choir led us in O Canada, in English and French. I left, my faith in Canada and Alberta, reaffirmed. No one from the UCP government accepted their invitation to attend the event. The loss was theirs.

Unconfirmed reports that HTS-led rebels are already on the approaches of Salamiyah. Rebel forces reportedly struck a deal with the Shiite leaders of Salamiyah's Ismaili sect with the latter putting down their weapons. Meanwhile HTS-led rebels declared the start of an incursion into Hama city.
