En Paraguay, una campaña electoral acaba de sumar una propuesta difícil de encontrar en cualquier manual de comunicación política. Horacio Fernández, candidato del Partido Colorado a la Intendencia de Itauguá, prometió que si gana por más de 10.000 votos pondrá a disposición de los vecinos, durante 24 horas, los cuatro moteles que pertenecen a su familia para su uso gratuito. La particular recompensa fue anunciada durante un acto político de cara a las elecciones municipales del próximo 4 de octubre. El candidato explicó que la iniciativa ya fue conversada con sus padres, propietarios de los establecimientos, y aseguró: "Si ganamos por más de 10.000 votos de diferencia, ya está hablado con mi mamá y mi papá: vamos a liberar por 24 horas los cuatro moteles Espacio Class para que el pueblo itaugueño vaya a festejar como corresponde". Pero la promesa no terminó ahí. Según contó Fernández, algunos de sus concejales fueron incluso un paso más allá y propusieron extender la celebración. La idea sería que, si la diferencia supera los 15.000 votos, la promoción pase de 24 a 48 horas. Una elección, en ese escenario, podría terminar teniendo una suerte de "segundo tiempo" bastante particular. Su lista está integrada por 12 candidatos a concejales, aunque ninguno parece tener una promesa de campaña tan difícil de superar en cuanto a originalidad. La propuesta rápidamente llamó la atención justamente por vincular una promesa electoral con los establecimientos comerciales de la propia familia del candidato. En lugar de obras, descuentos o anuncios de gestión, el dirigente puso sobre la mesa una recompensa que, al menos por su formulación, convierte la diferencia de votos en una especie de premio colectivo. Ahora la cuenta regresiva quedó planteada para el 4 de octubre. Primero habrá que ver cuántos votos consigue Fernández y, sobre todo, si alcanza esa diferencia de 10.000 que fijó como condición. Si lo logra, los festejos en Itauguá podrían tener una agenda bastante menos institucional de lo habitual, aunque el postulante no aclaró si la propuesta incluirá o no pernocte.
