Thank you itch
In order to better control what you see, we're adding Generative AI disclosure filtering to few more places on the site where it was critically lacking, including our search results page

I am tormented with an everlasting itch for things remote.
November 4, 2026 at 5:47 AM
Yes and no. Looks like Itch is working on solving it, but they admit it's been severely lacking on their platform.

During an ao3 recession, i needed something to scratch the itch
November 1, 2026 at 4:03 PM
For itch, this is specifically challenging. People expect to be able to make a new itch account and immediately post a game because that's the niche that itch fulfills in the game distribution ecosystem; it's a venue for new developers, jam participants, students, etc.

i say this with real affection: itch is supposed to be flooded with lovingly handcrafted garbage. not this

Itch does actually have a filter for that, Steam doesn't.
November 3, 2026 at 4:37 AM
Looks like they answered that. Not a no-AI policy, just a no-spam policy.

They won't ban AI slop outright.

Just because you can upload 10 terabytes of poorly optimized ai generated models doesn't mean you should upload 10 terabytes of poorly optimized ai generated models

As a reminder we have had an AI spam clause in our quality guidelines for over two years: itch.io/docs/creator...

I'm pretty sure this is purposeful in order to attempt to kill itch, Kenney.

itch: we hate all the ai slop on our store :(
everyone: ban it then
itch: it takes up server space and no one buys any
everyone: ban it
itch: if only we could do something
everyone: ban it
itch: sigh, guess we’re stuck with it
everyone: ban it
itch: feel bad for us, who can do literally nothing

Itch got flooded with AI games and is now mass deleting them. They also added a new filter for users to filter out gen AI games.

hey guys i just uploaded several terabytes of ai slop to itch how's it going
November 3, 2026 at 4:54 AM
i don't understand why itch does not simply do the impossible at a moment's notice. that's what i'd do
November 3, 2026 at 8:28 AM
Take Itch, though-
There's 6k game pages uploaded to Itch each day. Let's say half of that is AI. If each page takes two minutes to examine and verify (being VERY quick here - assuming it's glance, download, run, glance, decide), one person working an eight-hour shift will get through... 240 titles.
