I really really really really really really really really really really wish scientists (in particular) would talk to goldsmiths/silversmiths/makers before pontificating about the making methods used in ancient gold.

Not *quite* as bonkers as the Harry Torc, but a bit controversial. Once again we've stepped right out of the Iron Age & into another - very different - time period... 😳❤️

The Sedgeford torc - the terminals cracked during casting (probably as it was allowed to cool too fast) and the crack was skilfully stabilised with rivets that run from the front to the back of the terminal. These were seamlessly hidden.

Found another concentric circle! There's actually only 6 of this type on Iron Age gold work. Rare beasts, and 4 are on complete torus torcs (Netherurd and the Great torc), which suggests the other 2 (on scraps) are likely to be from them too....
