Izushi: Soba and History in a Preserved Castle Town
Five small plates of soba arrive with leek, grated daikon, wasabi, yam, and raw egg, inviting diners to adjust each bite. Izushi sara soba grew from a noodle tradition introduced in 1706 and remains central to exploring this castle town. Walk through preserved streets to Shinkoro, a 13-meter wooden clock tower built in 1871 using materials from the old castle. Its predecessor announced the time by drum, and it is Izushi’s best-known landmark. At the castle ruins, original stone walls remain by reconstructed gates and bridges, with red torii leading toward a shrine founded when the castle was built in 1604. Nearby Eirakukan, a playhouse opened in 1901, still hosts kabuki and other performances; when no show is scheduled, visitors can explore the stage and backstage mechanisms. Winter snow gives the historic streets a different character.

And that’s a wrap for Blazing Blade! Not my first FE play, but first time I beat an FE game.

I had a lot of fun with it. I do think it’s on easier side (normal mode), I abused arena a bit tho Lol. Stylistically, GBA is the best era of Fire Emblem to me. The music is good, not peak, but still good.

Handwerker in der westjapanischen Präfektur Hyogo sind damit beschäftigt, Porzellanfiguren von Schlangen herzustellen, dem orientalischen Tierkreiszeichen für das nächste Jahr. Eine Töpferei im Bezirk Izushi der Stadt Toyooka stellt seit mehr als einem halben Jahrhundert jedes Jahr Tierkreisfiguren aus traditionellem Porzellan namens „Izushi-yaki“ her. Das Studio besteht seit der Meiji-Ära, die im späten 19. Jahrhundert begann. Bei der Herstellung von Schlangenfiguren gießen Arbeiter flüssigen Ton in eine Form, trocknen sie und retuschieren dann ihre Formen und Gesichtsausdrücke mit Fingerspitzen und Stöcken. Nach dem ersten Brennen glasieren die Kunsthandwerker sie und brennen sie erneut bei hohen Temperaturen, um durchscheinendes weißes Porzellan

In Izushi-cho, einer historischen Burgstadt in der Präfektur Hyogo, fand am 19. April 2026 der 51. Izushi-Soba-Wettbewerb statt. Rund 330 Teilnehmer aus der Region und darüber hinaus verzehrten innerhalb weniger Minuten 13.466 Teller der lokalen Buchweizennudeln.
