In light of Monday’s #Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine announcement, for #JEMLegacy let’s look back at one of Shimon Sakaguchi’s early @jem.org papers from 1985! rupress.org/jem/article/...

Happy New Year from all of us @jem.org. For this month’s #JEMLegacy we are going back to the 90s with this report on lymphotoxin’s role in chronic inflammation

1/2 In this #JEMLegacy, we revisit a study published in 1963 by Dr. Irwin Lepow that identified C1q, C1r and C1s as subcomponents of the C1 complement complex (rupress.org/jem/article/...).

This #JEMLegacy tweet highlights two papers from 1965 by Drs. Phil Gold and Samuel O. Freedman @mcgill.ca on the discovery of the Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA), the basis for the widely used CEA blood test.

Beautiful talk from Sohail Tavazoie at #SITC25! The intersection between neuroscience and cancer is fascinating, and particularly enjoyed the reminder that nerves in cancer were identified in @jem.org in 1897! 🧐 #JEMlegacy rupress.org/jem/article-...

#JEMLegacy @jem.org goes back to 1930 with the first description by William Tillett and Thomas Francis Jr. of C-reactive protein (CRP) in the sera of patients during the acute phase of pneumococcal pneumonia.

This month #JEMLegacy is going back to 1987 when Marc Jenkins and Ronald Schwartz first described that TCR engagement (signal 1) alone induces T cell unresponsiveness and anergy, setting the stage for the understanding of T cell costimulation 🧪 Take a look here 👉 tinyurl.com/4sebepmr

This #JEMLegacy tweet takes you to a 1999 study by Dr. Muriel Moser that demonstrated the functional dichotomy between CD8a+ and CD8a- DCs in driving distinct T helper cell responses.

In honor of last week’s #ksneuroimmune25 #ksneurodegen25 meetings, for #JEMLegacy today let’s revisit the birth of the EAE model in 1933! 🧠🧐https://rupress.org/jem/article/58/1/39/3215/OBSERVATIONS-ON-ATTEMPTS-TO-PRODUCE-ACUTE?guestAccessKey=3b2c12db-2471-4b40-979e-7f85e8a23c4c
