The sea-change in American Jewish beliefs and opinions, as more and more American Jews are not only vocally opposing the Israeli genocide in Gaza, but challenging their relationship to the state of Israel, can no longer be denied.According to the latest poll by the Associated Press and U Chicago’s NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, only 23% of U.S. Jews said the term “Zionist” described them extremely or very well. That’s consistent with polling from earlier this year that found most U.S. Jews — 63% — do not self-identify as Zionists.And it’s not just U.S. Jews that are changing their minds about Israel. Half of all Americans believe Israel is commiting genocide. Public opinion matters.
