To shed a positive light on the WNBA right now, I want to highlight history being made. Minnesota Lynx guard Kayla McBride made history by being the first player to sink double-digit three-pointers in a single game against the Dallas Wings.

Buffalo's arts commission remains without an executive director.

For now, the city says the board's work will continue without interruption. However, a new task force will make recomendations on its operations by September.

Can the board wait until then to work?

Statistically, this long-term alignment brings vital stability to an athletic department fighting modern transfer portal volatility. How can mid-majors sustain this organic digital brand value without a Power-5 television media budget?

I’m interested to see if/when any NC State players sign this and become active in the labor rights of women’s basketball players. #JMC602

An All-Star selection is not about off-court impact, TV ratings, or chartered flights. It’s about individual achievements on the court. #JMC602

This week, I experimented with making an Instagram reel for the first time in forever.

I documented my walk from work to Falafel House on Niagara Square. I had a delicious sandwich and made a video about it.

My question: should I become a Buffalo food influencer?

Let me know.

Loved Colin Bane’s perspective on sports tech. While sensor data helps track vert height in real time, he insists on keeping writing and reporting human. In high-risk sports, raw emotion, resilience, and personal narrative are elements no algorithm can fabricate or replace. #JMC602

In a piece by @scottsmcintosh.bsky.social, Idaho became the 41st state to establish a "shield law." Shield laws protect journalists from being subpoenaed during a criminal or civil case, protecting sources and unpublished information. This law protect traditional news gathering. #JMC602

Just the threat of being subpoenaed can be a scary thing, and actually being subpoenaed, even if you prevail, takes a toll financially, mentally, and in terms of time and resources. | Opinion

Mike McIntire of the New York Times used his first job interview spelling test to convey that journalists should never assume anything in their reporting, especially in the investigative journalism field. #JMC602

The Phillies cannot let the outfield struggles continue. This team, clearly, is too talented to not make a move at the deadline. Yet, the box score quite quickly reveals a severe dearth at outfield. In is in the bottom 10 on production in the league.

In a zoom session with the entire Journalism department at St. Bonaventure University, Melissa Isaacson was asked what it was like to be one of very few women in the Chicago Bears locker room post-game, trying to have her questions answered by the players? 🧵

Reputation is a big thing in the journalism space. However, for some young journalists, having any piece of our work online is often viewed as a good thing. For John Branch, that's not always the case. #JMC602

Colin Bane's approach to storytelling stood out to me. He emphasized getting to know athletes beyond their performances and finding out who they are. That's something I want to apply to my own sports reporting. #JMC602

During a masterclass with John Branch, I really appreciated the discussion about respect for journalists. Hopefully, the profession continues moving toward a space where accuracy, integrity, and trust are valued the way they once were.
