I hate ai. I hate the ai-fication of every facet of life. nothing is real. the images are fake, the products are fake, the websites that host these images are fake. creativity and curiosity is stifled by the ai-ification of search engines. the internet is junkspace now. everything feels like spam.

I was hoping for someone to write about the connection between Backrooms and Koolhaas' Junkspace essay and of course Edwin delivers

It's funny all the replies have negative connotations because the first thing I thought of was junkspace

Here's some excellent news from me! I have a new story in this month's issue of The Dark! It's called "His Most Feared Constellation". In a desolate corner of junkspace, a man makes a cup of tea while he waits for his daughter to visit ✨❄️

What book changed the way you look at the world?

Déu ha mort, l'autor ha mort, la història ha mort, sols l'arquitecte resta dempeus.

Ok beautiful people in the sky (or bpits??) what do we think?

Would you play this game? Read this lore? Enjoy this comic?

JUNKSPACE is set in the shadow of a supernova where all advanced electronics have been destroyed!

Excited to share more!

I actually avoided citing "Junkspace" in my mall book because (ha) it doesn't lead anywhere, but I do have a whole chapter about "Dawn of the Dead," dead malls, ruin porn, etc. etc.

Man I can't believe I am only just now reading Junkspace by Rem Koolhaas. It's so good www.readingdesign.org/junkspace

the usefulnet frequently undergoes what rem koolhaus termed a collapse into junkspace and becomes part of the slopnet (becomes russian or indian soccer or mma gambling sites), which is really a bifurcation into slopnet and wayback archival. mortification of the flesh; relics of the bones.

I've been seeing a lot of open nostalgia for the physical aesthetics of the American mall recently. my only comment on that is that everyone should read Rem Koolhaas' Junkspace, one of my favorite and most referred to readings from undergrad.

A day of WayWord in Aberdeen.
I'm excited.

Still love this song and album. Now to drive to Aberdeen with it blaring.

Pseudo "authentic" experiences/spaces are used to hoodwink people temporarily into being inhabitants of offices, bars, districts. It's a form-type one could add onto Rem Koolhaas's 'Junkspace' (2002), where space is not produced to serve human needs but rather multipurpose investment potentiality.

Architects of a certain age call this “Junkspace,” after the Rem Koolhaas essay of the same name from 2001. A good read.
Pittsburgh Mills in all of its sad iterations might be the local archetype.
