Still amazed that my AMA at r/fantasy got 73K visitors. It took me eight hours to answer all the questions. Should I do another when Endlords come out? www.reddit.com/r/Fantasy/co... #Endlords #JVJones @torbooks @orbitbooksuk.bsky.social @LittleBrown

My first post on bluesky. Endlords, Chapter 8, The Inn at Ploughed Hill. Listen as I narrate the first couple of paragraphs. The book isn't available yet, but hopefully will be soon. @torbooks @orbitbooks #JVJones #Endlords #SOS

Proof I should never be allowed on TV. Thank you for everyone who helped boost Endlords' signal during Operation Deluge. @torbooks.bsky.social ks

Never work with children or animals. Taking photos last weekend for Endlords publicity, trying to lure Bobo into the shot. Bobo wasn't having any of it. #Endlords #torbooks #orbitbooks #JVJones

Tor Books passes on completing JV Jones's SWORD OF SHADOWS series, author to pursue self-publishing
Tor Books have - in my view unwisely - decided not to publish the last two volumes of J.V. Jones's long-gestating Sword of Shadows  series. ...

so i got reeeeally angry on @jv-jones.bsky.social's behalf last week on the bird app. y'all. you're not any creator's fan if you treat them like they owe you rent money for "taking too long" to publish something you've been waiting for, no matter how long you've been waiting

1 of 6 screencaptures of a twitter thread started by epic fantasy author J.V. Jones. Transcript is as follows: J.V. Jones, our Lady Author: Endlords is done and ready to leave the building! It's the best book in the Sword of Shadows series so far. @torbooks @orbitbooks #JVJones #Endlords #SOS Dave the Clown: So far? We've waited 26 years to get to this point, what's another 5–10 years, eh? Robert Jordan took less time to finish and at least he had the excuse of being dead for the last three. 2 of 6 screenshots of a twitter thread started by epic fantasy author J.V. Jones. Transcript is as follows: (continued from 1st screenshot) Dave the Clown: So far? We've waited 26 years to get to this point, what's another 5–10 years eh? Robert Jordan took less time to finish and at least he had the excuse of being dead for the last three. Me: Get wrecked, dude. Dave the Clown: Hey, I'm a fan. I bought all of Book of Words and the first four Sword of Shadows. She left me... 3 of 6 screenshots of a twitter thread started by epic fantasy author J.V. Jones. Transcript is as follows: (continued from 2nd screenshot) Dave the Clown: Hey, I'm a fan. I bought all of Book of Words and the first four Sword of Shadows. She left me... Me: So am I, but I've been patient and I'm not getting snarky about it. you don't know what she's been going through these past years, trying to find the inspiration to write. don't get snarky. it's rude, and we writers work fucking HARD on our craft. And she did not "leave you", for fuck's sake. Dave the Clown: One sympathises with her situation, but ultimately there is an unwritten contract between the writer and the reader. I'm glad that Julie has been able to complete Endlords, given her troubles, but I won't be investing further until the final installment is published. Me: Okay, don't let the door hit you on the way out. 4 of 6 screenshots of a twitter thread started by epic fantasy author J.V. Jones. Transcript is as follows: (continued from 3rd screenshot) Dave the Clown: When you've finished the series, I will be delighted to read it all again and the new finale. I just don't want to be left hanging again... Me: Again, she's not catering specifically to you, Dave. She didn't "leave you". She's been going through a lot these years. Don't try the guilt-tripping shit, she doesn't work for you. Every writer writes for themselves, we just share our worlds with you. You are not entitled. Dave the Clown: Well, that's not quite true, is it? Or the writers would publish their works for free. A writer who doesn't finish a series is analogous to a builder who doesn't finish the works on a house. You've taken half the money for half the job, you can't just [put] down [the] tools... Me: Writers are not dogs trained to jump on command. We have rent or mortgages to pay, utility bills, medical bills, groceries to buy, pets to care for, we are human beings with lives outside of writing. Most of us are not Stephen King. Most of us are living hand to mouth.
