Since it's National Pizza Day...

The last pizza I ate... at Jacomax, a member of the #YellowEconomicCircle (that I first heard about from it being featured on Chapman To's "Yellow Openrice" YouTube series that he used to have when he was still living in Hong Kong.)

In 2014, I did love Paisano's. But since 2019, it's Jacomax for me!

What I had most recently at Jacomax -- post hike on New Year's Day, actually! 😛

Jacobo Maximiliano. Originally from Puglia, Italy, he moved to Hong Kong after falling in love with a Hongkonger who's now his wife and co-owner (with him) of the Pizzeria Jacomax chain that's part of the Yellow (i.e., pro-democracy) Economic Circle. (Jacomax is a condensed version of his name.)

It feels like not enough people know about Jacomax's Gorgonzola and apple pizza, which is a really nice dessert pizza. (Also, note: Jacomax is a member of the Yellow Economic Circle.)

BTW, remember when we went to Jacomax for dinner and you said a 9 inch pizza would be great for an individual? They now do have them for lunch (in a set that includes a soup or salad and a drink). :b

I wondered how someone from Italy would react. Thank you for not freaking out! :D

Hong Kong is also home to Jacomax, a mini-chain co-owned by an Italy-born chef and his Hong Kong-born wife. Their most famous pizza's the gorgonzola and apple, which I find yummy!

Hong Kong pro-democracy pizza store Jacomax announces that they are shutting their Sheung Wan branch, with their last day being June 30.

So many businesses failing. Not due to a bad product, but because of greedy landlords. Was I a fan of Jacomax Pizza? Not really, although whenever I was in Sheung Wan, I'd visit them & any business that has survived 15+ years in Hong Kong, especially during 2019 and Covid, should be respected.
