The Modi government is planning metro rail projects in Jammu and Srinagar, with Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) ready and awaiting final approvals. Once cleared, these projects will bring modern urban transit to the region, cutting travel time, easing traffic congestion, and improving daily mobility for residents. Metro connectivity in Jammu and Srinagar is expected to boost tourism, jobs, local business, and real estate development, while offering a cleaner, safer alternative to road travel. The move signals a big push to upgrade urban infrastructure in J&K and integrate the region more closely with India’s fast-expanding metro network.
