How can i be anti semitic when i want Jewtown back on Maxwell street and also this:
I can say that the Shoah happened and that it was wrong.
I can also say that Israel, the country, has engaged in genocide against members of its own country and aggressively attacked its neighbors based on nothing more than their ethnicity.

What would we even call the Jewish communities? Little Jewtown sounds like the most antisemitic thing I can think of even though it essentially follows the nomenclature represented here.

Tyner White, mentioned in that article, was a longtime Maxwell Street fixture - a DIY inventor living entirely off of scrap materials. He was also a regular in the Loop for a long time, but he's not mobile anymore. This hourlong interview was taped inside the onetime Creative Reuse Warehouse.

Over on the visage book page it's not against community standards to refer to a town known for a strong liberal Jewish community as "Jewtown." Pretty sure they'd be OK with calling a majority Muslim town Ragville. It's a swamp of hate.

I am from Cork city in Ireland. We have a similar story. In the late 1800s a ship carrying jews fleeing Lithuania docked at Cork on its way to New York and apparently some passengers disembarked after miss hearing Cork as New York. They settled in the city in an area that is still known as Jewtown

I didn't know the Hebrew words until now, as we have no Jewish population here, so there is no currency of speech: the last few married and moved out. There is still an area called Jewtown, with (until recently) a Shalom Stores, but the days when we could proudly elect a Jewish Lord Mayor are gone.
