Relieved that the MOSAIC K99/R00 grants.gov page is no longer expired (updated today), and it sounds like people are able to submit apps again 🧪

It took 14 months, but I’m incredibly excited to share that my NIMH Pathway to Independence Award (K99/R00) has officially been funded!

k99 submitted, even as things fall apart at least I can say I tried 😅

Congrats to post-doc Yichen Luo (@camellyc.bsky.social) for receiving a K99 award from NIH! Yichen is investigating the neural control of respiration.

Not a bad week. 2 K99 and 5 F32 NoAs out. Congrats and best wishes to those PDs.

I get a lot of questions on the #NIH #K99 #postdoc to faculty transition award. Decided to pen my thoughts and experiences towards receiving the K99/R00 - hoping it would be helpful for the community.

Our postdoc Eric Paulissen (at far left) has been having quite the month. Just got a K99/R00 from NIDCR and now has won a 2nd place poster award at SCGDB.

Literally every woman I know with a k99/r00 is going to lose their funding because NIH is cancelling their funding mechanism. Every single one. Read that again.

Oooof. Not a single… Not a *single* K99 awardee at an HBCU. Ever. Ever? EVER.

My former PhD student just today got an unexpected NoA for a K99 that was scored back in February

Excited to have received the NOA for my K99 Pathway to Independence award on astrocytes in neurodevelopmental disorders! I am so grateful for my PI Nicola Allen, and all my mentors, letter writers, and collaborators.

Totally unexpected — but incredibly exciting🎉 My K99/R00 application has been awarded! I can’t wait to dive deeper into exploring the “ancient” developmental program of the neural crest in dermal bone formation.

Real talk: is it even worth applying to K99/R00 in 2025?

Will there even be an NIH budget? 🫠

Considering MOSIAC and similar K99/R00s make-up less than 15% of the total K99/R00 awards, it's even more maddening.

I am oh so happy to share that my K99/R00 "Linking Adolescent Environmental Enrichment to Association Cortex Plasticity and Psychiatric Resiliency" was awarded by the NIMH!

And with that, I am on the job market! I can't wait to find the home of my future lab.

Big shoutout to my K99/R00 PO, who dove into her 6 week backlog of emails to respond to my R00 application mere hours after the government re-opened. And then she responded to my reply, 1 hour later. Her email speed skills are legendary.

I'm thrilled to share that I have been awarded an NIH/NEI K99 Pathway to Independence Award. I'm deeply grateful to everyone who has supported me along the way, especially my mentor Jessica Treisman for her invaluable mentorship.

19 on my K99 resubmission! Massive thanks to my mentors and letter writers for all their support. Hard to tell if it will actually translate to funding in this climate, but I'll take the win regardless!

Now do the same for the postdoc ones: K01, K99, and F99. My postdocs grant is still “unassigned”.
We @chronicle.com reported on Friday that applications for F31 diversity fellowships had been withdrawn.

Now, multiple scholars tell me their applications have been re-assigned to their original study sections, in a reversal of instructions NIH officials gave reviewers last week. #AcademicSky
‘We’re Being Punished’: NIH Tosses Some Grant Applications From Minority Researchers
The sudden withdrawal affects early-career scholars who applied for a prestigious federal grant with a diversity notation — flagging that they came from underrepresented backgrounds.
