-Airports have three letter codes. LAX ATL ORD, etc
-They don't get changed. DC National was re-named for RReagan but remains DCA.
-One famous exception: Idlewild, IDL, became JFK in Dec 1963.

Now another exception. Palm Beach Internat'l PBI is now DJT.

And, in reply to some questions: Airports in the US have "K" as the first letter, in official ICAO and flight-plan terminology. KLAX, KDCA, and now, alas, KDJT.

(For the UK, it's "E" at the start. France has "L." For Canada and Mexico, it's conveniently "C" and "M" respectively.)
